James 5:16 teaches us that, ". . . The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much." NASB
So many times we need prayer and want to pray but our culture and society makes us feel that prayer is not the answer. What you can do for yourself is all that REALLY makes a difference . . . all that REALLY matters. Doing what you can do is extremely important and should not be down-played, however;

• The Delight of the Lord - Proverbs 15:8
• For Mercy and Grace in Time of Need - Hebrews 4:16
